The Government Printing Works (GPW), based in Pretoria, is offering a 24-month Graduate Programme internship position under the title Employee, Health and Wellness. This structured work placement is intended for qualifying graduates who wish to gain practical, supervised experience in a government environment. The programme forms part of the institution’s broader internship initiative for the 2027/2029 financial year, and aims to bridge the gap between academic study and the professional workplace. Interns selected for this post will be placed within a unit focused on employee health and wellness, where they will work alongside experienced professionals and contribute to the wellbeing of the organisation’s workforce.

To be eligible, applicants must hold a degree in Social Work or Psychology. The internship is open only to unemployed South African citizens who have not previously participated in an internship programme. Candidates are expected to disclose their full employment and internship history, as failure to do so may lead to immediate termination of the contract on grounds of dishonesty or undue enrichment. Applicants with foreign qualifications must have their certificates evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) before applying. Shortlisted candidates will be required to produce certified copies of their qualifications on or before the day of the interview, and all successful candidates will undergo personnel suitability checks as part of the selection process.

The core duties of the intern will revolve around structured exposure and on-the-job training aligned to the field of study. The intern will actively participate in workplace activities, assist with projects, and take part in capacity-building initiatives under the supervision of experienced professionals. This may include supporting the employee health and wellness unit with programmes related to psychosocial support, mental health awareness, counselling services, and wellbeing interventions for staff. The role is designed to build practical competence in applying psychological and social work principles within a public sector setting.

Applicants must follow the official application process carefully, including completing and signing the new Z83 application form, using the correct email address, and indicating the job title and reference number in the subject line. Photographs, zipped files, and image attachments will not be accepted. The GPW reserves the right to fill or not fill the post, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. By applying, candidates consent to the processing of their personal information in terms of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and any queries may be directed to the human resources development contacts listed in the advertisement.
