The core duties are extensive. The Director will promote the issuing of title deeds, manage the transfer of properties to housing debtors, and oversee the department’s rental housing portfolio. This includes managing conveyancing, the title deed vault, pre-emptive rights processes, and title deed restoration. In respect of leasing, the Director is responsible for sourcing tenants, negotiating lease terms, implementing maintenance budgets, and maximising rental collection. The role also involves managing and facilitating the disposal of properties and land, implementing the disposal plan that devolves properties to municipalities in terms of section 15 of the Housing Act, and finalising outstanding Land Availability Agreements.
