The Department of Health is advertising three shift-based Diagnostic Radiographer posts at the Grade 1 and Grade 2 levels, located at George Masebe Hospital, Sekororo Hospital and Donald Frazer Hospital. These are Occupational Specific Dispensation positions within the public health sector, and the successful candidates will also receive a rural allowance calculated as a percentage of basic salary, acknowledging the rural setting of these facilities. The role is centred on delivering professional diagnostic imaging services within a hospital environment, requiring a genuine commitment to shift work, night duty, weekends and public holidays, as well as a willingness to work extra hours on short notice when the need arises.

Applicants must hold a National Senior Certificate or Matric, together with an appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Diagnostic Radiographer, and they must be currently registered with the HPCSA. For appointment at Grade 1, candidates require less than ten years of appropriate and recognisable experience gained after registration, while Grade 2 appointment demands a minimum of ten years of such experience. The department seeks professionals with thorough knowledge of diagnostic radiography techniques and protocols, comprehensive understanding of radiation protection, quality assurance and equipment safety, and a solid grasp of public service procedures. Strong report writing skills, good interpersonal relations, computer literacy, and knowledge of Patient Archiving and Communication Systems and Radiology Information Systems as used in regional and tertiary hospitals are all essential. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, to think independently, and to perform under pressure is critical to success in this environment.

The main duties include ensuring the smooth running of the radiology department, providing professional services to patients, and attending to the general care and safety of patients throughout their time in the unit. Radiographers appointed to these posts must produce images of a consistently high standard to support accurate diagnosis and effective treatment. General enquiries about the posts are directed to a team of departmental officials during office hours. Prospective applicants are advised to read the conditions and requirements carefully before applying, as applications are submitted through the provincial e-recruitment system and must include a fully completed and signed Z83 form accompanied by a comprehensive CV in PDF format. Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend an interview and present certified copies of their qualifications, proof of current HPCSA registration and their identity document, and they will also undergo pre-entry assessments, including a practical exercise and an integrity assessment. Foreign qualifications must be evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority. These posts offer qualified diagnostic radiographers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to public healthcare delivery within Limpopo's hospital network.
