An exciting senior opportunity exists within the Gauteng Provincial Office of the Department of Employment and Labour for a Deputy Director responsible for Fleet Management and Auxiliary Services. This re-advertised post forms part of the department's provincial operations and is ideally suited to an experienced manager with strong backgrounds in transport or fleet operations, facilities management, and property administration. The successful candidate will take charge of the Sub-Directorate and report within the provincial operational structure, ensuring that the province's vehicle fleet, auxiliary services and building portfolio are managed effectively and in line with relevant legislation and departmental directives.

The role demands a candidate with a recognised NQF level 6 qualification in Public Management, Business Management, Public Administration, Fleet or Transport Management, as evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority. In addition, applicants must have at least five years of work experience, including two years at a supervisory level and a further three years of functional experience directly tied to fleet or transport management, auxiliary services, facilities management, or property management. This combination of formal study and practical exposure is essential for the breadth of the position.

The incumbent must demonstrate sound knowledge of key legal and policy frameworks, including the Government Immovable Asset Management Act (GIAMA), the Fleet Management Policy, the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Public Service Regulations, and Batho Pele principles. Familiarity with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA), and the National Archives and Records Act is also required. On a skills level, excellent communication, attention to detail, leadership, planning, organisation and coordination abilities are vital, as are problem-solving, decision-making, time management, managerial supervision and analytical capabilities. Computer literacy, research and networking skills further round out the expected profile.

In terms of responsibilities, the successful candidate will manage the entire provincial fleet management function, monitor auxiliary services to ensure they are delivered efficiently, and oversee the maintenance and management of both leased buildings and the State-owned immovable asset portfolio. The role also carries executive responsibility for all resources within the sub-directorate, including budget management, staff supervision and operational planning. The post carries an all-inclusive salary package and is located at the Provincial Office in Gauteng, with enquiry details available in the vacancy listing. In line with the department's employment equity targets, African males, Indian females and White males are particularly encouraged to apply. Given that this is a re-advertisement, those who previously applied must submit a fresh application in order to be considered.
