This position offers an opportunity to serve as Deputy Director for Financial Risk and Escalations within the Provincial Supply Chain Management component of the Department of Community Safety, based in Johannesburg. The role sits at a senior level and is responsible for safeguarding the financial integrity of supply chain operations. The incumbent will lead the development and management of price strategies, conduct and review financial analysis, and oversee contract price adjustment processes. A key focus is identifying, monitoring and mitigating risks associated with transversal contracts, ensuring that the department's procurement and financial activities remain compliant, transparent and cost-effective. The post also carries managerial responsibilities, including overseeing personnel and maintaining productive stakeholder relationships across the provincial supply chain environment.

Applicants must possess a three-year tertiary qualification at NQF Level 7 in Supply Chain Management, Finance or Accounting, together with three to five years of relevant experience in the financial and economic environment at Assistant Director level or equivalent. A valid driver's licence is required. The successful candidate will be expected to manage the development of price strategies, review financial analyses and reporting, review and approve price adjustment calculations, monitor identified risks on transversal contracts, and manage both stakeholder relationships and staff. Strong analytical, leadership and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic guidance in a government supply chain context.

This is an all-inclusive package position, structured with a basic salary and a flexible portion in line with applicable public service rules. The post is advertised as part of the provincial circular, and applicants should note that only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. The department encourages applications from youth, people with disabilities, and candidates of coloured, Indian and white background, in line with equity targets; applicants with disabilities must submit a confirmation from a registered medical practitioner. Foreign qualifications must be accompanied by a SAQA evaluation certificate. All shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo two pre-entry assessments — a practical exercise and an integrity assessment — and suitable candidates will be subject to personnel suitability checks, including vetting, criminal record, citizenship, credit record, qualification and employment verification. The department reserves the right not to fill the post. Prospective applicants should take careful note of the application instructions in the original advertisement, including the use of the prescribed application form; only shortlisted candidates will need to provide certified copies of qualifications. If no response is received within three months of the closing date, applicants should consider their application unsuccessful.
