This position is a senior training and management role within the Financial Management Capacity Building directorate at the Limpopo Provincial Treasury, based at the Head Office in Polokwane. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the delivery of Basic Accounting System (BAS) and Logistical Information System (LOGIS) training across the province, ensuring that financial systems training is consistent, high quality, and aligned with national and provincial frameworks. The role operates at a managerial level and involves both strategic oversight and hands-on coordination of trainers, training centres, and reporting processes.

To be considered, applicants must hold an NQF level 7 qualification in Financial Management or Public Finance, recognised by SAQA, and have at least five years of experience in the financial management or financial systems training environment, of which three years must be at junior managerial or Assistant Director level. A valid driver’s licence is required, with an exception for persons with disabilities. The role demands a thorough knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act, Treasury Regulations, the Public Service Act and Regulations, and the Batho Pele Principles, as well as practical familiarity with BAS and LOGIS. Strong computer skills, organisational ability, adaptability during change, innovation, and problem-solving are also essential.

The core duties revolve around planning, delivering, and quality assuring BAS and LOGIS training throughout Limpopo. This includes conducting training sessions, performing quality assurance during regional training, and reporting back on observations. The deputy director will analyse and evaluate course and trainer questionnaires, compile course, monthly, and quarterly reports, and submit these to the Director. They will also manage financial systems training at National Treasury for courses not offered in Limpopo, attend various financial management system forums, and develop provincial training schedules in consultation with stakeholders and trainers, in line with the Annual Performance Plan. These schedules must be submitted to the Head of Department for approval through the Director’s office, then distributed to departmental CFOs and system controllers, and uploaded onto the Training Management System.

Beyond scheduling, the role includes monitoring training centres at Head Office and in the regions, reporting any challenges to the relevant directorates, and ensuring trainers deliver content according to approved schedules. The deputy director will moderate scripts, supervise Assistant Directors and trainers, oversee marking and assessment, consolidate trainer reports after each course, and manage performance, leave, and database functions. This includes importing data files to the training database, extracting and customising Excel reports, monitoring the regular updating of the systems training database, and ensuring certificates are printed. The position is graded at a senior level with an all-inclusive remuneration package that can be structured according to individual needs within public service prescripts. Applicants should note that the standard application process requires the newly prescribed Z83 form, and that all relevant fields must be completed, with a CV attached as a supporting extension of the application.
