This position, based at the Limpopo Provincial Treasury head office in Polokwane, serves as Deputy Director for Financial Accounting and Reporting. The role is central to the directorate's mandate of ensuring sound financial management across provincial departments, public entities and subsidiaries. The incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing systems and processes that improve audit outcomes and overall financial health, while also providing strategic and operational leadership to the component. The post is a senior managerial role, reporting within a structured environment that demands both technical accounting expertise and the ability to manage people and stakeholder relationships.

Candidates must hold an NQF level 7 qualification in Financial Accounting or a related field recognised by SAQA, together with five years' experience in the field, of which three years must be at junior managerial or Assistant Director level within financial accounting or a related environment. A valid driver's licence is required, with an exception for persons with disabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of the PFMA, Treasury Regulations, GAAP and GRAP, as well as the ability to interpret and apply Treasury directives. Advanced Excel skills, report writing, analytical thinking, financial management, strategic management, policy formulation, conflict management and leadership abilities are all essential to succeed in this role.

The duties are wide-ranging and include developing and implementing systems to improve financial management and audit outcomes, compiling provincial standard operating procedures for public entities and subsidiaries, and implementing National Treasury prescripts and approved accounting standards. The Deputy Director will review interim and annual financial statements, manage the clearance of monthly suspense and inter-department accounts, and review the implementation of National Treasury instruction notes. A key responsibility is managing and reviewing consolidated annual financial statements, as well as the accounting officer's report and the supporting audit file. The role also involves liaising with external stakeholders, managing the component, performing strategic and operational planning, overseeing administrative support functions, and handling people and financial management responsibilities.

Applicants should note that this is a public service post subject to the usual prescripts. Applications must be submitted on the prescribed Z83 application form, which must be fully and accurately completed, with a detailed CV attached as an extension of the form. Copies of qualifications are not required at the application stage, but shortlisted candidates will be required to meet further requirements as determined by the department. The department is committed to ensuring that all relevant fields are completed to allow the selection committee to assess suitability. This is an opportunity for a seasoned financial professional to contribute to the province's financial governance and accountability framework.
