This position centres on the accurate and timeous management of accounts receivable within the Cape Town International Convention Centre, reporting directly to the Revenue and Credit Controller. The core purpose is to perform the full range of clerical debtors functions so that all monies owed to the organisation are collected promptly, receipts are correctly allocated, and every transaction complies with internal procedures and the Municipal Finance Management Act. The role sits within a busy finance environment that supports event operations, parking, conferencing, and various concessionaire and subcontractor billing cycles.

Candidates need a Matric certificate with mathematics or accounting at NQF Level 4, supplemented by an accounting certificate or diploma. In addition, at least two to three years of practical debtors clerk experience is required. The ideal person is an innovative, pragmatic and quality-driven professional with strong conflict handling abilities, computer literacy, time management and meticulous attention to detail. They must be able to work in a team, maintain professionalism, and resolve problems efficiently while delivering service excellence.

The daily responsibilities are extensive. The debtors clerk must download bank statements, allocate receipts to client accounts, match payments to the correct debtors, and capture payments against the correct account numbers and event IDs. They must inform event executives of incoming payments, save documentation appropriately, investigate payment queries, and liaise internally with the bank and event teams to resolve unidentified payments. The role also involves reconciling client accounts in credit for refund processing, compiling backup documentation, following up on outstanding bank confirmation letters, and creating and forwarding invoices to event executives. Monthly statements must be sent to customers timeously, and the clerk must prepare an active order report daily to ensure events are closed on time, investigating any reasons for failure and processing final invoices for the month.

Beyond event-related billing, the clerk processes invoices for monthly parkers, subcontractors, concessionaires, coffee shops, business centre, casual parking and off-site services. They also handle daily invoices for the Confex department, process initial deposits and final tax invoices against event contracts, and ensure approved credit notes are processed and recorded in the credit note register. Additional duties include assisting with weekly cash-ups, credit card settlement reconciliations, opening manual event folders, reconciling cash-up deposits, processing AR cashbook entries and journals, and assisting with CIT duty and handover of cash-up deposits and parking machine takings.

The CTICC is committed to employment equity and will apply its approved EE plan during recruitment. Only complete applications from shortlisted candidates will be considered, and if no feedback is received within 30 days, applicants should regard their application as unsuccessful. Remuneration will be discussed with the successful candidate, and the organisation reserves the right to close the advertisement at any time. This is a hands-on role requiring someone who can work accurately under pressure and contribute to the broader financial controls of a leading convention centre.
