    CURATION AND PUBLISHING MANAGER (PC 11)

    CENTRE FOR HIGHER EDUCATION DEVELOPMENT

     

     

    The Centre for Innovation in Learning and Teaching (CILT) in the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHED) invites applications for the position of Curation and Publishing manager. CILT plays a key role in advancing Open Education at the University of Cape Town. This position is located in CILT’s Academic Staff Development cluster and involves:

     

    Advocating for and supporting open education resources (OER) adoption and creation

    Supporting open textbook authors and editors. 

    Project managing open education initiatives at UCT, including the Digital Open Textbooks initiative, Open Textbook Awards, and Student Open Education Fellowships.  

    Supporting the UCT UNESCO chair in Open Education and Social Justice.

    Supporting CILT projects as required, including the UCT Teaching and Learning Conference, and the CILT Annual Report.

     

    REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE:

    • Postgraduate qualification (NQF8).
    • At least 5 years of project management experience, including budgeting, resource management, and contract staff management
    • At least 2 years of academic or scholarly writing experience.
    • At least 2 years of editorial management and publishing experience.
    • Open Education awareness and understanding.

     

    ADVANTAGEOUS:

    • Experience in publishing in higher education.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Manage open education initiatives at UCT including the Digital Open Textbooks initiative, Open Textbook Awards, and Student Open Education Fellowships. 
    • Support international projects of the UCT UNESCO Chair in Open Education and Social Justice.
    • Advise on open education resources (including open textbooks) and open publishing at UCT.
    • Promote, support and maintain the communication of open education initiatives.
    • Provide editorial support for the CILT Annual Report.
    • Provide project management and editorial support for the UCT Teaching and Learning conference.
    • Coordinate and contribute to research design of Digital Open Textbook and other open education outputs.
