Job Description
Knowledge of Animal Diseases Act, 1984. Veterinary
and Para-veterinary Professions Act, 1982. Animal Identification Act, 2002. Fertilizers
Farm Feed Agricultural Remedies and Stock Remedies Act, 1947. Knowledge
of animal health, disease control and animal welfare. Computer
literacy. Good
communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Report
writing and administrative skills. Ability to work independently and in
multidisciplinary teams. Willingness
to travel extensively and work after hours when required. A valid driver's license.
Requirements
Grade 12 plus a recognised Bachelor’s Degree/National
Diploma in Animal Health or related field. Current registration with the South African
Veterinary Council (SAVC) as an Animal Health Technician. Relevant and
Supervisor experience an added advantage.
Duties
Supervise the implementation of vaccination
programmes on Controlled Animal Diseases according to the Animal Diseases Act. Supervise
the implementation of disease surveillance on Controlled Diseases according to
the Animal Diseases Act. Supervise
the activities of Primary Animal Health Care. Supervise the conduction of
National and Provincial disease Surveillance in the state veterinary area. Supervise
the implementation of the Brucellosis and Tuberculosis Eradication Schemes in
the state veterinary area. Manage dip-tanks and dipping programmes.
Supervise dip-stuff, veterinary work-materials and vaccine inventory. Participate
in the movement of buffaloes within or out of the Mpumalanga Province. Supervise
human resources and transport logistics. Implement Performance Management Development System
of employees and reporting
to line manager.

Only shortlisted
candidates will be required to submit certified documents. Foreign
qualifications must be accompanied by an evaluation certificate from the South
African Qualification Authority (SAQA). Emailed applications will not be
considered. All shortlisted candidates, including the SMS, shall undertake two
pre-entry assessments. One will be a practical exercise to determine a
candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements
and the other will be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment. Shortlisted
candidates will be required to be available for assessments and interviews at a
date and time to be determine by the Department. The first two recommended
candidates for Deputy Directors posts will be subjected to competency
assessment. All shortlisted
candidates for SMS posts will be subjected to a technical exercise and
interview. Following the technical
exercise and interview, a maximum of three (3) SMS candidates will undergo
psychometric assessments to assess cognitive capabilities, behavioral
preferences, emotional intelligence, and integrity.

be expected to enter into an employment contract and a performance agreement
within 3 months of appointment. Failure to comply with the above instructions
