    Remuneration

    R 571 161 per annum - R 654 285 per annum Annual salary plus service benefits (13th cheque, employer's contribution to the pension fund, housing and medical aid allowance).

    Experience

    A minimum of 7 years appropriate/ recognizable experience in nursing after registration with the South African Nursing Council in General Nursing.

    Inherent requirements of the job

    Ability and willingness to perform standby duties as the need arises.

    Minimum educational qualification

    Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification (R683) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. OR A 4 year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. OR A 3 year Diploma in Nursing (R171) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) AS A General Nurse. (This dispensation is only applicable for posts of Clinical Programme Coordinator where it is an inherent requirement of the post for the incumbent to maintain registration with the SANC).

    Duties (key result areas/outputs)

    Responsible for planning, managing, coordinating and maintaining an optimal Infection prevention and control service at Tygerberg Hospital. Identify the need for standards, policies and procedures regarding IPC. Participate in developing standards and monitor the implementation process. Effective management and utilization of resources to ensure operational function in the area. Initiate and participate in training, development and research within the nursing department. Deliver a support service to the Nursing Service and the institution. Maintain ethical standards and promote professional growth and self-development.

    Competencies (knowledge/skills)

    Ability to function independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Effective communication, interpersonal, leadership, decision-making and conflict resolution skills. Good organizational skills and the ability to function under pressure. Basic computer literacy skills. Good written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge and insight related to Infection Prevention and Control. Knowledge of relevant legislation and policy related to IPC within the Public Sector. Ability to promote quality patient care through the setting, implementation and monitoring of standards.
