Clinical Programme Coordinator Grade 1 (Comprehensive Health Services) (Permanent position)

This position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional nurse to take on a coordination role within the comprehensive health services environment at the Saldanha Bay sub-district, based at Saldanha Primary Health Care facility under the West Coast District. As a Clinical Programme Coordinator Grade 1, the incumbent will be responsible for driving the integration of a wide range of health programmes at sub-district level, ensuring that services are delivered in a cohesive and patient-centred manner across all platforms. The role sits within a permanent appointment and is graded according to the applicable public service dispensation, with the usual range of service benefits attached to such posts.

The core responsibilities are broad and strategic. The coordinator will lead the implementation of integrated comprehensive health services, specifically focusing on HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted infections, and tuberculosis, while establishing strong linkages with chronic disease management, the first 1000 days strategy, and the health needs of adolescents, women, and men. This involves providing oversight, supervision, and support to health facilities to ensure compliance with quality assurance policies, guidelines, protocols, norms, and standards. The role also requires active involvement in human resources development, particularly in skills development and training, to build capacity for integrated service delivery. Furthermore, the coordinator must strengthen collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including non-profit organisations, to enhance the principles of community-oriented primary care. Monitoring and evaluation form a key part of the job, with responsibility for assessing integrated health service performance and implementing projects aimed at improving primary healthcare outcomes in the sub-district.

To be considered, applicants must hold a nursing qualification that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse, either the basic R425 diploma or degree, or a four-year bachelor’s degree in nursing, or an equivalent combination of qualifications. A minimum of seven years of appropriate and recognisable nursing experience after registration in general nursing is required. A valid Code B or EB driver’s licence is essential, along with a willingness to travel and work overtime when needed. The successful candidate will need strong strategic and analytical thinking, the ability to work independently, interpret and implement policies, and be computer literate in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
