Requirements
NQF Level 6 (Relevant qualification) 5 years’ experience in the field of Labour Relations Knowledge and experience in Dispute Resolution and Mediation Experience and Coordinating and Chairing Negotiation Forums Critical Performance Area 1. CHAIRPERSON'S POWERS AND FUNCTIONS 1.1 The Chairperson will: - 1.1.1 Convene all meetings of the Bargaining Forum; 1.1.2 Preside over and conduct all meetings of the Bargaining Forum according to normal meeting procedures provided that in the absence of the Chairperson, the Vice¬ Chairperson will chair the meetings as decided by the Bargaining Forum on each occasion; 1.1.3 Promote the compliance by all the parties to the Constitution and collective agreements; 1.1.4 Facilitate the effective functioning of the Bargaining Forum and promote consensus between the parties and the conclusion of collective agreements between the parties to the Bargaining Forum; 1.1.5 Facilitate negotiations and discussions at the Bargaining Forum and promote consensus between the parties and the conclusion of collective agreements between the parties to the Bargaining Forum; 1.1.6 Sign the minutes of meetings after approval thereof by the Bargaining Forum; 1.1.7 Perform such duties as may be requested of her/him by the Bargaining Forum; 1.1.8 Draw up an annual report for submission to the Bargaining Forum 2. STATUS AND DURATION 2.1 The Chairperson: 2.1.1 Is appointed as an Independent Contractor (service provider) and not an employee of the University; 2.1.2 Is not entitled to any leave, pension, medical aid, bonus or other employment benefits granted to employees of TUT; 2.1.3 Does not have the authority to bind TUT to any agreement; 2.1.4 May not describe or represent himself/ herself in any way, directly or indirectly, as an agent, servant or employee of TUT. 2.2 Subject to the constraints imposed by the Chairpersons' appointment, the Chairperson may take on other projects and pursue his/her own activities. However, in so doing the Chairperson 2.2.1 Must not undertake activities that conflict with TUT's interests or which may prejudice the Chairperson's ability to perform the functions of a Chairperson; 2.2.2 Must not accept or continue employment, with any of the Parties of the TUT Bargaining Forum.
