    Job Purpose: To prune and fell trees and other vegetation on road reserves and in public open spaces during normal office hours and after hours to ensure the environmental well-being of Tshwane and the region

    Requirements

    Ability to perform duties Basic literacy Chainsaw Operator Certificate Relevant working experience in operating a chainsaw will be an added advantage Physical fitness and good health with the ability to carry equipment and machines Willingness and ability to work shifts Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost Personal attributes Having a strong physique; ability to work in a natural environment without any and/or competencies allergies; ability to do physical work related to operational and maintenance activities for continuous periods in an outdoor environment; ability to work under pressure; ability to work in a group; good communication skills; good technical skills; high hand-eye coordination; willingness to accept responsibility; flexibility and adaptability; being self-motivated; being hard-working; punctuality; accountability; reliability; basic understanding of tree-cutting practices; no fear of heights; excellent eyesight

    Duties

    Perform the reactive pruning and felling of trees and other vegetation on road reserves and in public open spaces using mechanical and non-mechanical equipment and tools, including aerial platforms and truck-mounted cranes Load branches and debris due to storms and at sites where the pruning or felling of trees and other vegetation has been done Maintain mechanical and non-mechanical equipment used in the execution of duties, as well as the allocated vehicle
