Requirements
The applicant must be in possession of a recognised three-four-year
qualification or equivalent (NQF level 6) which includes professional teacher
education registered with SACE with at least 9 years’ experience as a teacher
Experience in working with various provincial departments and in stakeholder
engagements. A valid driver’s license. Strong knowledge of Inclusive Education
policies and frameworks. Experience in project management and leaner support.
Ability to collaborate with educators, families, and communities. Leadership
skills to establish and guide support teams at school and district levels.

Duties
The successful candidate will be expected to provide
strategic and managerial leadership regarding the training in Inclusive
Education policy and practice. Direct the provincial rollout of the Screening,
Identification, Assessment, and Support (SIAS) policy framework. Create
training programs to help teachers adapt the CAPS curriculum for diverse
learning needs. Resource Development: Conceptualize, design, and distribute
training manuals, provincial circulars, and instructional guidelines. Capacity
Building: Train District-Based Support Teams (DBSTs), Institutional-Based
Support Teams (IBSTs), and School Management Teams (SMTs).
Develop and implement innovative quality assurance
mechanisms to monitor, evaluate, and report on the impact of educational
policies and institutional governance frameworks. Formulate and facilitate
professional development programs and training interventions for District
Directors, Circuit Managers, and School Governing Bodies (SGBs) regarding
regulatory compliance and policy updates. Mediate policy directives with
relevant stakeholders, including teacher unions, the Department of Basic
Education (DBE), and civil society organizations. Manage the budget,
procurement processes, and human resources of the directorate in line with the
Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
