Remuneration

Experience
A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. At least 6 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience in the specific specialty after obtaining the 1 year post basic qualification or post-graduate diploma in one of the relevant specialties. At least 3 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience at management level.
Minimum educational qualification
Basic R425 qualification (i.e. diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification (R683) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with the SANC in one of the following nursing specialties; Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care: Trauma & Emergency (R212) or Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Critical Care: General (R212) or Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Operating Theatre Nursing (R212) or Medical and Surgical Nursing Science: Orthopaedic Nursing (212) or Diploma in Clinical Nursing Science, Health Assessment, Treatment and Care (R48) OR A 4 year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174) or equivalent qualification (R171 plus R1497) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. A post graduate diploma (R635) accredited with the SANC in one of the following nursing specialties; Critical Care: Trauma & Emergency or Critical Care: Adult or Orthopaedic Nursing or Peri-operative Nursing or Primary Care Nursing.
Competencies (knowledge/skills)
Experience/exposure in leading and managing teams and to promote quality person-centred care through the setting, implementation, and monitoring of standards. Good organisational skills, with the ability to function under pressure, independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Effective communication, interpersonal, leadership, decision making, problem-solving, conflict resolution, labour relations skills and Computer literacy (i.e.MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Provide leadership and supervision for the provision of effective and efficient comprehensive holistic nursing care within the professional/legal framework. Develop establish and maintain constructive working relationships with nursing and other stakeholders (i.e. inter-professional, inter-sectoral and multi-disciplinary teamwork). Coordinate and ensure implementation and adherence to quality assurance and improvement of practice standards, protocols and indicators. Efficient and effective management, utilization and supervision of resources and knowledge and insight of all relevant legislation and policies within the public sector. Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self-development.

Inherent requirements of the job
Valid driver’s licence. Willingness to work shifts (night duty) on rotation basis over weekends, and public holidays. Expected to work overtime if required. Rotation standby duties.
