This advertisement invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for three Assistant Director: Human Resource Practice and Administration posts within the Limpopo Department of Health. The successful incumbents will be placed at Elim Hospital, St Ritas Hospital, and Evuxakeni Hospital respectively, where they will be responsible for leading and coordinating human resource administration functions at facility level. This is a supervisory-level post graded at salary level 09, and it plays a pivotal role in ensuring that HR operations align with departmental strategic objectives and comply with the full range of legislative and regulatory frameworks governing the public service.

Applicants must hold a National Senior Certificate or Grade 12, together with an NQF Level 6 qualification in Human Resource Management, Public Administration, Administration, or an equivalent qualification recognised by SAQA. At least three years of relevant supervisory experience in human resources practices or administration is required, and a PERSAL training certificate must be attached to the application. Practical knowledge of government HR systems is essential, along with computer literacy in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and virtual meeting platforms. A valid driver's licence is required, except for applicants with disabilities. The department seeks candidates who demonstrate a thorough understanding of key labour legislation, including the Public Service Act, the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, and the Labour Relations Act, as well as related HR prescripts. Familiarity with public sector recruitment, selection, appointment, termination, transfer and secondment procedures is also essential, together with working knowledge of PERSAL functionalities, HR data management, employee benefits, housing and overtime policies, leave administration, grievance and disciplinary processes, audit and compliance requirements, and HR planning, records management and reporting protocols.

The duties of the post are broad, operational, and people-centred. The Assistant Director will implement the business plan in line with strategic objectives, manage the full lifecycle of appointments, terminations, transfers and secondments, and oversee leave of absence and employee benefits such as allowances, overtime and housing. The role further requires the provision of comprehensive HR administration support and compliance, the management of employee relations, and the effective management of both physical and human resources. Because this is a supervisory position, the incumbent must be able to guide and direct subordinate staff, maintain accurate HR records, and promote a compliant, ethical, and productive working environment within a hospital setting.

Candidates should note that the department applies a rigorous application and selection process, and all applicants are urged to read the conditions and requirements of the post carefully before applying. Applications must be submitted online and must include a fully completed and signed new Z83 form, together with a comprehensive curriculum vitae attached in PDF format. Foreign qualifications must be evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority. Shortlisted applicants will be required to attend interviews and must submit certified copies of all relevant qualifications, identity documents, and any required statutory registration. In addition, all shortlisted candidates will undertake pre-entry assessments, including a practical exercise and an integrity or ethical conduct assessment, which will be scored as part of the interview process. These measures are designed to ensure that only capable and ethical candidates are appointed to these important human resource leadership roles within the public health sector.
