MINIMUM APPOINTMENT AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: • Appropriate Mechanical Trade Test Certificate in terms of section 13(2)(h) of the Manpower Act, 1981, as amended. • Valid driver's licence. • Experience Grade A: At least 0-2 years appropriate / recognisable experience in an area after obtaining the relevant trade certificate • Experience Grade B: At least 14 years appropriate / recognisable experience in an area after obtaining the relevant trade certificate. • Experience in a hospital or health-care environment will be an added advantage. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS TRAINING AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: • Sound knowledge of mechanical maintenance, repairs and installations. • Knowledge of HVAC, pumps, boilers, compressors and other hospital mechanical systems, • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical faults and breakdowns. • Knowledge of preventative and corrective maintenance. • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and equipment manuals. • Knowledge of occupational health and safety and hospital safety requirements. • Good problem-solving, communication and teamwork skills. • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise maintenance activities. • Basic computer literacy and ability to complete maintenance reports. • Ability to work independently, under pressure and during emergency breakdowns. • Provide technical advice to the supervisor regarding mechanical equipment and maintenance requirements. • Perform any other duties delegated by the supervisor.
