Job Purpose: To repair and maintain all the components of water networks, such as pipelines, valves, air valves, water meters and fire hydrants, and to upgrade the water reticulation system

Requirements
An appropriate trade certificate as Fitter and Turner (red seal) At least two years’ relevant experience in a municipal water network maintenance environment A valid Code C1 driving licence with PrDP Physical fitness and good health Ability to do physical work related to operation and maintenance activities for continuous periods Willingness and ability to work standby, shifts and overtime Personal attributes Good communication skills; ability to be creative; problem-solving skills; ability to and/or competencies work under pressure; willingness and ability to work as part of a team; ability to work in confined spaces, at high altitudes and below ground level in trenches; ability to work under an extreme workload and to deliver work within the required time planned; ability to plan effectively and to work with minimum supervision and assistance
Duties
Ensure the operation and maintenance of 175 reservoirs, 985 control valves, 2 000 isolating valves and steel water pipes with a diameter of 250 mm up to 1 200 mm with internal pressures in excess of 25 bar Ensure continuous monitoring of reservoirs and pump stations with the need to upgrade control systems, bulk water mains and other bulk water services Repair water leaks on pipelines Perform general administration (time sheets, overtime, materials, plant, transport and labour)
