This position is for an Administrative Clerk specialising in property matters, based in the Bohlabela District of the Mpumalanga provincial government. Operating within the broader public service administrative framework, the role is central to supporting the district’s property-related functions, ensuring that records, transactions and client interactions are handled efficiently and in line with legislative requirements. The post is graded at level 05 and forms part of the department’s administrative support structure, reporting within the district office and contributing to the smooth running of property administration.

To be considered, applicants need a Grade 12 certificate complemented by a Higher Certificate in Office Administration or Public Administration at NQF Level 5. Beyond formal qualifications, the role demands a solid understanding of clerical duties, including data capturing, computer operation and the collection of statistics. Familiarity with the legislative framework governing the public service is essential, as is the ability to work independently while remaining professional, accountable and credible. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required, along with excellent administrative and problem-solving abilities. Practical computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, the broader MS Office suite and Outlook is expected, as are flexibility, document administration skills, and sound planning and organising capabilities.

The core duties of the post revolve around providing comprehensive administrative support. This includes maintaining accurate records, processing transactions and handling correspondence. The role also involves supporting the management of resources, assisting clients with their queries and needs, and contributing to reporting processes within the district. In essence, the clerk ensures that property-related administrative workflows are completed accurately and timeously, enabling the department to deliver services effectively.

As with many public service vacancies, the recruitment process includes several important conditions. Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified copies of their documents before interviews, and any foreign qualifications must be evaluated by SAQA, with proof of evaluation provided if requested. Applicants must also disclose any business interests or remunerative work outside their official duties, and indicate whether they are directors or shareholders of companies conducting business with the state. The department reserves the right not to make an appointment, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. If no response is received within three months of the closing date, applicants should consider their applications unsuccessful. The successful candidate will be expected to enter into an Annual Performance Agreement and to disclose their financial interests annually. While this particular post is not at senior management level, the department’s broader recruitment practices may include pre-entry assessments, integrity checks and personnel suitability verification for shortlisted candidates, ensuring that appointments are made in a transparent and accountable manner. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to public service delivery in a district-level administrative capacity, with a focus on property administration and client support.
