This advertisement invites suitably qualified individuals to apply for four Administration Clerk positions based at the Provincial Office in Polokwane. The roles sit within a component that is central to the coordination and support of major provincial events and joint operational activities. As an Administration Clerk, you will be expected to function as a reliable administrative backbone, ensuring that planning, monitoring, record keeping and logistical arrangements are handled efficiently. The post is graded at Level 05, making it an entry-level clerical position within the public service, and the successful candidates will work under the supervision of senior personnel while being expected to act independently, professionally and with credibility.
To be considered, applicants must be South African citizens and be able to furnish documentary proof of citizenship on the day of the interview. A Grade 12 / Senior Certificate / NCV Level 4 or equivalent qualification recognised by SAQA at NQF Level 4 is required, while additional courses relevant to the field will serve as an added advantage. The role demands proficiency in English and at least one other official language, as well as general computer literacy in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Office, MS PowerPoint and Outlook. The ideal candidate will demonstrate sound planning, organising, administrative and problem-solving abilities, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a clear customer-focused approach. A willingness to work under pressure and beyond normal hours is also essential, given the nature of event planning and operational coordination.
The main duties include planning and monitoring major events across the province, coordinating national and provincial joint operations, and rendering administrative support functions to the section. You will also deal with general component administrative duties and record keeping, administer logistical arrangements, and assist in monitoring both human and physical resources within the section. This means you will be involved in the full administrative cycle—from planning and organisation to execution and record-keeping—requiring attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Other important information concerns the application and selection process. The application requires a fully completed and signed Z83 form, obtainable from any government institution or online, accompanied by a comprehensive curriculum vitae. For online applications, only a PDF version of the CV should be attached; zipped, IMG and JPEG files will not be accepted. Applicants with foreign qualifications must ensure their qualifications are evaluated by SAQA and provide proof of such evaluation. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview and must submit certified copies of qualifications, an identity document, and any relevant registration. All shortlisted candidates will also undergo two pre-entry assessments: a practical exercise and an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment. These assessments are scored as an additional criterion during the interview process. Applicants should note that failure to comply with the conditions and requirements of the post, including the correct completion of the Z83 form, will result in disqualification. By applying, candidates agree to the stated conditions and requirements.
