This position offers an opportunity to serve as an Administration Clerk within the Technology Management Services component, based in Durban. The role is central to the smooth running of the unit’s administrative functions, specifically in support of ICT and Radio Technician Services. Working within a government environment, the incumbent will be expected to provide reliable clerical and coordination support to supervisors and technical teams, ensuring that correspondence, scheduling, reporting and related administrative tasks are handled efficiently. The post is graded at salary level 05 and forms part of the broader public service administration structure, with the work requiring a high degree of professionalism, accountability and the ability to function both independently and as part of a team.

To be considered, applicants must be South African citizens and be able to furnish documentary proof of citizenship on the day of the interview. A Grade 12 / Senior Certificate / NCV Level 4 qualification, or an equivalent qualification recognised at NQF level 4 by SAQA, is required. While not mandatory, relevant courses in the field of the post will be an added advantage. Candidates must be proficient in English and at least one other official language, and must demonstrate general computer literacy across MS Word, MS Excel, MS Office, MS PowerPoint and MS Outlook. In addition, the role demands sound planning, organising, administrative and problem-solving skills, strong interpersonal abilities, good verbal and written communication, and a clear customer focus. The ability to act independently, professionally and with credibility is essential, as is a willingness to work under pressure and beyond normal hours when required.

The core duties of the post involve managing incoming and outgoing correspondence related to ICT and Radio Technician Services, scheduling meetings and maintaining calendars, and coordinating ICT and Radio technical activities. The incumbent will also be responsible for compiling statistics, reports and monthly performance information, and for performing any other administrative and ICT support duties assigned by supervisors. This means the role is not limited to routine filing or typing; it requires active coordination, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise competing demands in a technical support environment. The successful candidate will work closely with supervisors and technical personnel, ensuring that administrative processes support the effective delivery of technology and radio services. This is an entry-level clerical post, but one that offers exposure to the broader ICT and radio communications environment within the public sector. Interested applicants should ensure they meet all the stated requirements and are prepared to undergo the necessary verification processes, including producing their original qualifications and identity documents at interview stage.
