This permanent administrative position is based at the Zwelitsha Campus of Lovedale TVET College and falls within the college’s registration function. The successful candidate will be appointed on the Persal system and will play a key part in supporting the full student lifecycle, from initial registration through to placement and reporting. Working within a Technical and Vocational Education and Training environment, the role is focused on ensuring that administrative processes align with college policies, particularly around student placement and Work Integrated Learning (WIL). The position also contributes to broader student support services by helping to develop and review policies, procedures and job profiles that govern how the college manages student affairs.
Applicants must hold a Matric certificate or NCV Level 4 qualification, together with a recognised three-year National Diploma at NQF Level 6 in Business Administration, Public Management or Administration, or an equivalent qualification. In addition, at least one to two years of relevant experience in a TVET environment is required. The role demands a solid working knowledge of basic financial operating systems, specifically COLTECH, as well as an understanding of financial functions and practices. The ability to capture and collate financial statistics is essential, along with computer literacy and a working knowledge of public service financial legislation and procedures, including the PFMA, DORA, PSA, PSR and the Financial Manual.
The core duties of the post are varied and centre on administrative support. The clerk will help ensure that the college’s student placement and WIL policies are in place and adhered to, which involves analysing the job market, identifying scarce skills and matching available opportunities with the college’s programme mix. The role also includes compiling learner progress reports, statements, results and responding to student enquiries. Furthermore, the position provides administrative support to the development and review of Student Support Services policies, processes, procedures and job profiles, and offers assistance throughout the entire student registration process. This requires close attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to work with both academic and financial data.
As with all posts in the public service, the successful candidate will be subject to a vetting process, including verification of criminal records, citizenship, qualifications and employment history. A financial disclosure process will also apply, and shortlisted candidates may be required to undergo pre-entry assessments, including a practical exercise and an integrity test. Applicants must submit a signed and fully completed Z83 form and a comprehensive CV with contactable references; foreign qualifications must be accompanied by a SAQA evaluation certificate. Lovedale TVET College is an equal opportunities employer and encourages people with disabilities to apply. The college reserves the right not to fill the post or to withdraw it at any time. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted, and those who have not heard within six months of the closing date should consider their application unsuccessful. This vacancy is advertised under the PSV Circular 37 of 2026, post 37/43.
