As an Administration Clerk dedicated to Management Support Services, the successful candidate will play a central role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day functioning of the Labour Centre. The role is broad and multifaceted, providing essential administrative backbone to the office by coordinating support functions across finance, supply chain, human resources, records, and training. Working under the direction of the Labour Centre Operations management, this clerk acts as a key link between various internal processes, helping to maintain compliance with departmental policies and Treasury Regulations while upholding the principles of Batho Pele in all public-facing and internal interactions.

Candidates wishing to apply need only hold a Grade 12 or Senior Certificate, as no prior work experience is required. This makes the post an accessible gateway for individuals seeking to begin a career in the public service, particularly in administrative and management support. However, applicants must possess a solid foundational knowledge of Batho Pele Principles, departmental policies and procedures, and Treasury Regulations. In addition, a range of core skills are essential for success in this role, including strong verbal and written communication, sound interpersonal relations, effective problem-solving and conflict management abilities, good coordination skills, and computer literacy. These competencies will enable the incumbent to navigate the varied demands of the Labour Centre environment and interact professionally with colleagues, management, and members of the public.

The daily responsibilities of the Administration Clerk are extensive and require a proactive, organised approach. A primary duty is to render Supply Chain Management functions within the Labour Centre, which involves supporting procurement and related administrative processes. The role also entails providing a comprehensive Finance and Office Management service, ensuring that financial administration and general office operations run efficiently. Furthermore, the clerk is responsible for assisting with Human Resource Management tasks, as well as coordinating training and performance activities on a daily basis. Records administration forms another critical pillar of the role, requiring meticulous handling of documentation to ensure accurate filing, retrieval, and compliance with record-keeping standards. Together, these duties demand a versatile individual who can prioritise tasks and work collaboratively to support the broader objectives of the Labour Centre.

This vacancy is advertised as part of a specific circular and is subject to employment equity priorities. Preference will be given to candidates from designated groups, including African Males, White Males, White Females, Indian Females, Indian Males, Coloured Males, Coloured Females, and People with Disability, in line with the department’s affirmative action commitments.
