This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the effective management of health information within the Cape Winelands District, specifically based at the Stellenbosch Primary Health Care (PHC) facility in the Stellenbosch Sub-district. As an Administration Clerk focused on Information Management, the successful candidate will play a vital supporting role in ensuring that accurate, high-quality health data is collected, processed, and utilised across the sub-district. The role sits within the broader public health ecosystem, meaning the incumbent must be prepared to support health services across multiple institutions within the ecosystem as needed to sustain service delivery. This is an entry- to mid-level administrative post that requires strong numerical and analytical abilities, coupled with a commitment to maintaining data integrity in a clinical support environment.
Applicants must possess a Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification, along with appropriate, relevant working experience in information management. Direct experience with Health Information Systems such as Clinicom, PHCIS, Sinjani, Ideal Health Facility, SPV, EDRweb, and BI is essential, as is a background in monitoring and evaluating performance information and systems. A valid Code B/EB driver’s licence is an inherent requirement of the job, as travel between facilities may be necessary. The ideal candidate will demonstrate good numerical and data analysis skills, presentation and training capabilities, and leadership abilities. Strong computer literacy in the MS Office suite—specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook—is required, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The core duties involve assisting the Assistant Officer and Senior Administrative Officer with all health statistics within the sub-district. The clerk is responsible for ensuring good quality data across PHC, HAST, CBS, and Hospital domains. This includes assisting with the implementation of information systems, managing the DITCOM process and register, and maintaining registers for computers, printers, and consumables. The role also involves providing frontline user support by responding to system-related queries and handling online and telephonic helpdesk calls. Beyond systems support, the clerk renders a supportive function to primary health care facilities and the hospital in the Stellenbosch Sub-district, assisting with folder management, disposal, and archive processes. General office administration—including filing, handling telephone calls and correspondence, managing office equipment and stock—forms part of the daily routine, as does providing support to the supervisor and fellow staff members.
This is a full-time post graded according to the OSD system, with the remuneration package aligned to that scale. The closing date and reference number are provided separately for application purposes. Interested candidates should note that no payment of any kind is required when applying. The advertised post is linked to an institution that forms part of the Ecosystem Service platform, so the incumbent may be expected to render services across facilities in the ecosystem as operational needs dictate. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who thrives on data accuracy, enjoys helping others resolve system issues, and wants to make a tangible difference in public health administration.
