    This permanent position of Administration Clerk: Human Resource Development is based at the Southern Western Substructure Office within the Chief Directorate: Metro Health Services, part of the Western Cape Department of Health. The role sits within the human resource development function and is central to supporting the department’s training and development agenda. It offers an opportunity to contribute to the upskilling and wellbeing of staff across a major public health service provider, while working within a structured, team-oriented environment.

    Applicants must hold a Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification, and are required to have appropriate and relevant experience in People Development or Human Resource Development. A valid Code B/EB driver’s licence is an inherent requirement of the job. The successful candidate will need to be computer literate in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and should possess good interpersonal skills, strong organisational ability, and the capacity to function under pressure and as part of a team. These competencies are essential because the role involves coordinating multiple training activities, liaising with service providers, and supporting committee processes.

    The core duties cover the full training and development cycle. The incumbent will assist with the training needs analysis and the completion of the Workplace Skills Plan, as well as the quarterly training reports. They will support the implementation of generic and transversal training, help with PTI courses, and assist in sourcing service providers. The role also includes processing payments and training advances, arranging training meetings, and acting as secretariat for the Skills Committee meeting. In addition, the clerk will assist with the implementation, administration and evaluation of various programmes, including EPWP projects and learnerships, Employee Health and Wellness Programmes, CIP, PSI, the Bursary Scheme and CET. General people management enquiries and tasks within the section also form part of the daily responsibilities, making this a varied and busy administrative role.
