This position offers an exciting opportunity for a skilled administrative professional to contribute to the integrity and smooth operation of the education system within a specific district. As an Admin Officer for Examination and Assessment, the successful candidate will be a key coordinator for all assessment-related activities for the General Education and Training (GET), Further Education and Training (FET), and Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET) bands. The role is situated within the Education District Office and involves acting as a vital link between the provincial head office and local schools, ensuring that all examination and assessment protocols are understood, implemented, and adhered to at the district level. This is a demanding role that requires a meticulous, organised, and proactive individual who can manage multiple priorities in a high-stakes environment.

To be considered for this role, applicants must possess an appropriate three-year undergraduate qualification at NQF Level 6 in Public Management or Public Administration, as recognised by SAQA. This academic foundation must be complemented by a minimum of three to five years of relevant experience within an administrative environment. The ideal candidate will be a well-rounded professional with a strong command of computer applications and excellent communication, administration, and organisational skills. The role demands strong leadership abilities, sound people skills, and the capacity to take minutes and write detailed reports. Basic financial recording skills are also essential, and while not a prerequisite, a working knowledge of the education sector will be a distinct advantage.

The core duties of this position are multifaceted and critical to the fair and secure conduct of examinations. The officer will be responsible for coordinating all assessment and examination activities within the district, from liaising with the province and schools to ensuring the implementation of all relevant policies and procedures. This includes enforcing the security norms and standards for examinations, as set out by national and provincial guidelines and UMALUSI, to prevent any malpractices. The role involves the logistical coordination of distributing assessment instructions to district officials and schools, as well as forwarding applications for the appointment of examination-related personnel to higher authorities. Furthermore, the officer will assist in the management of operational budgets, oversee the efficient use of financial, human, and physical resources, and ensure effective asset control. A key responsibility is overseeing the safety and security of all assessment instruments and tools, including their proper storage and registry, and ensuring compliance with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and Supply Chain Management prescripts.

This is a permanent position graded at Level 07. The Department of Education is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from suitably qualified individuals, with specific equity targets likely to be considered during the selection process. The selection process may also include a practical exercise and an integrity assessment to determine the candidate's technical and ethical suitability for the post. The successful appointee will be required to serve a probation period. The closing date for applications is clearly stipulated in the advertisement, and all applications must be submitted through the provincial e-recruitment system. Applicants should ensure their Z83 form and detailed Curriculum Vitae are fully completed, as shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified copies of their qualifications and other relevant documents before the interview.
