This position offers an entry-level opportunity within the Compensation Fund, a public entity operating under the Department of Employment and Labour, based in Pretoria. As an Admin Clerk specialising in third-party matters, the successful candidate will play a key operational role in the financial recovery and revenue assurance functions of the Fund. The core purpose of the role is to ensure that the Fund recovers or collects money owed by both internal and external third parties, thereby safeguarding public funds and supporting the financial sustainability of the compensation system. The role sits within a structured administrative environment and is graded according to the Occupation Specific Dispensation (OSD) for clerical staff, reflecting a standard public service career path.

Candidates need only a Grade 12 Certificate (NQF level 4) as recognised by the South African Qualifications Authority, with no prior work experience required. This makes the post ideal for school leavers or those seeking to enter the public service. However, the role demands a solid foundational understanding of several key legislative and procedural frameworks. Applicants must be familiar with the Public Service Act, the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA), and the Compensation Fund’s own regulations, policies, and procedures. Knowledge of audit processes, principles, and the parties involved is essential, as is an understanding of financial risk and public sector revenue and receivable processes. Familiarity with the Promotion of Access to Information Act and the Batho Pele principles of customer service is also required. On the skills front, the ideal candidate will demonstrate strong information processing abilities, clear verbal and written communication, basic financial management aptitude, planning and organising capabilities, computer literacy, and sound interpersonal skills.

The main duties are focused on three key areas. Firstly, the incumbent will actively recover or collect money from internal and external third parties, which involves tracing debtors, issuing demands, and following up on outstanding payments. Secondly, the role includes the administration of Road Accident Fund claims, meaning the processing and management of claims where the Compensation Fund seeks reimbursement from the Road Accident Fund for certain benefits paid. Thirdly, the clerk will handle all income-related enquiries, providing feedback to internal stakeholders and external clients regarding payments, account statuses, and related matters. This requires a customer-focused approach and the ability to resolve queries efficiently.

This is a permanent post with a competitive entry-level salary. The closing date is set well in advance, and applications must be submitted via the dedicated email address provided in the circular. Importantly, this vacancy is subject to an employment equity target, with priority given to persons with disabilities, as well as Indian and White candidates, in line with the Fund’s affirmative action commitments. Enquiries may be directed to the contact person listed in the original advertisement. This role offers a solid foundation for a career in public sector finance and administration, with on-the-job exposure to legal frameworks, debt recovery, and stakeholder liaison.
