This permanent administrative role, based at the corporate office of Western TVET College, forms part of the institution’s marketing and communication unit. The successful candidate will be appointed on the Persal system and will support a range of corporate communication functions, including marketing, promotions, branding, public relations, media liaison, event coordination and website management. Working within the college’s corporate services environment, the admin clerk will help ensure that the college’s public image is consistent, professional and aligned with its strategic objectives. The position is ideal for an organised and creative individual who understands the communication needs of a public higher education institution and can work effectively with internal departments, external stakeholders and the media.

To be considered, applicants must hold a Matric or Grade 12 certificate together with a recognised three-year National Diploma or Degree in Communication, Marketing or Public Relations. While formal study is essential, relevant work experience in marketing or communications will be a strong advantage, as will a valid driver’s licence. Computer literacy is a firm requirement, and the role demands practical knowledge of social media platforms and current digital marketing practices. The incumbent should also understand the importance of brand guidelines and graphic design when applying these across various communication channels. A sound grasp of stakeholder management, events management and website maintenance is expected. In addition, knowledge of the policies and governance environment of TVET Colleges, including the annual reporting requirements set by higher education institutions, is important for this role.

The core duties of the admin clerk are varied and hands-on. The post holder will assist with the delivery of marketing, promotions and branding services, helping to raise the profile of the college and its programmes. This includes supporting public relations and media liaison activities, such as coordinating photographic services and drafting articles for internal and external publication. The role also involves assisting with the planning and coordination of college events, as well as providing communication administration services to ensure smooth operations. Another key responsibility is updating the content, design and layout of the college website, ensuring that information is current, accurate and visually consistent with the college’s brand.

Applicants should note that the selection process is thorough. All applications must be accompanied by a signed and fully completed Z83 form, obtainable from any public service department or the DPSA website, as well as a comprehensive CV listing at least three contactable references. Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified copies of their original documents, including academic records, and foreign qualifications must be accompanied by a SAQA evaluation report. All shortlisted candidates will undergo two pre-entry assessments: one practical exercise testing technical and generic suitability for the post, and one integrity assessment focused on ethical conduct. Successful candidates will also be subjected to vetting and financial disclosure processes, including verification of criminal records, citizenship, qualifications and employment history. Western TVET College is an equal opportunities employer and encourages people living with disabilities to apply. If applicants have not been contacted within six months of the closing date, they should consider their application unsuccessful. The college reserves the right not to fill the post.
