This vacancy is for an Accounting Clerk Supervisor within the Provincial Registering Authority, based at Ngaka Modiri Molema and falling under the Directorate of Transport Administration and Licensing in the Department of Community Safety and Transport Management. The role sits at the heart of the province’s motor vehicle administration environment, where the incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the registering authority. This is a supervisory position that requires a blend of administrative leadership, financial control, and a thorough working knowledge of the legislative framework governing road traffic and public finance.

To be considered, applicants must have a Matric or Grade 12 equivalent, along with between three and five years of relevant experience in the NaTIS Motor Vehicle Administration environment. A valid driver’s licence is essential. The department is looking for someone who has a solid understanding of the National Road Traffic Act, the Public Finance Management Act, Treasury Regulations, and other public service legislation. The ideal candidate should be able to perform under pressure, demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication, and show strong time management and computer literacy skills. Problem-solving ability and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team are also key competencies for this post.

The duties are wide-ranging and centre on the supervision of services within the registering authority. The successful candidate will administer the registration and licensing of motor vehicles, manage the collection of revenue, and perform daily and monthly reconciliations of NaTIS revenue collections. They will also be responsible for the collection and allocation of face value documents, ensuring compliance with the National Road Traffic Act, and compiling Sensitive Transaction Requests in line with NaTIS Help Desk requirements. In addition, the role requires ensuring that all NaTIS equipment and materials are available at all times, supervising the performance and development of staff, and compiling monthly financial and non-financial reports. The supervisor will oversee the key responsibilities of all staff within the registering authority, making this a position that demands both operational rigour and people management capability.

This department is an Equal Opportunity Affirmative Action Employer, and it is intended to promote representivity across race, gender, and disability. Preference will be given to candidates whose appointment advances representivity, with specific encouragement for African females and persons with disabilities at certain salary levels, as well as Indian males at particular levels. Applicants should note that the application process requires the use of the prescribed Z83 form, which must be completed accurately and signed, accompanied by a detailed CV with at least three referees. Certified copies of qualifications and other documents are only required from shortlisted candidates, and foreign qualifications must be evaluated by SAQA. Candidates must also disclose any business interests with the state and will be subject to personnel suitability checks. It is expected that applicants will be available for selection interviews on dates determined by the department, and correspondence will be limited to shortlisted candidates only.
