    Requirements

    BCom or similar qualification with accounting and cost accounting as subjects.Two to three years' work experience in a similar environment with focus on budgets and control account management.Proven experience in applying financial policies and procedures.Excellent interpersonal skills.Proven ability to function effectively as part of a team.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent computer skills (MS Excel, Word and Outlook).Sound organisational and planning skills.The ability to perform effectively under pressure.Excellent problem-solving skills.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RecommendationProven experience and knowledge of Stellenbosch University's, or a similar institution's, financial systems.Completed articles with an auditing firm.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Duties

    Liaising regarding and dealing with financial matters relating to faculties, institutes and support environments.Providing financial advisory services to the above-mentioned environments.Monitoring compliance with financial policies and procedures.Compiling management and financial reports on a continuous basis.Monitoring overspent cost centres and addressing it with the relevant parties.Following up and allocating transactions on control accounts.Responding to and solving financial policy and procedure queries (walk-in, telephonic and electronic).Presenting formal and informal internal workshops and programmes to communicate financial policies and systems.Capturing and reviewing manual journals.Preparing, calculating and processing budget adjustments.Managing internal reserve funds in terms of the regulations.Providing support in terms of Stellenbosch University's annual budget process.Providing support during the audit process.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
