EPWP Employment opportunity currently exists for 4 x Skilled Environmental Monitor within Golden Gate Highlands National Park. The above-stated position is a fixed-term contract up to the end of 31 March 2027.
Requirements
NQF Level 4, Grade 12 certificate. Willing to work flexible hours e.g. standby, Overtime, weekends & public holidays when require. Work overtime on weekends & public holidays when required. Physically fit and the ability to do long extended patrols under difficult conditions – (Mountainous). Successful candidate will have to undergo a medical fitness examination through a Medical Practitioner. No criminal record – Candidates should provide SAPS Verification Certificate. Must qualify in stipulated period. Driver’s License will be added advantage. Firearm competency – Self Loading Rifle, Manual Operated Rifle and 9mm Pistol will be an added advantage. General knowledge of Administration work. No picture of Documents phone scan will be allowed. Own transport and accommodation (no accommodation is available inside the park) Candidate must be prepared to undergo fitness test.
Duties
Conduct law enforcement activities (Patrols, Monitoring, Anti-poaching, problem animal control by means of foot, Horses or vehicle). Assist with infrastructure maintenance (Fence, Trail Maintenance, Soil Erosion and Rehabilitation management systems, Roads, etc). Ensure accurate records of incidents or sightings are kept. Assist with relevant Conservation activities when required – (Clearing of Alien Species). Assist with fire management – including wildfire suppression, implementation of firebreaks and prescribed burns. Checking & completion of vehicle logbooks. Report directly to Corporals / Section Ranger. Assist at the Stable for Horse riding Activities.
