Requirements
A relevant postgraduate qualification in Haematological Pathology. Registration as a specialist with the HPCSA (with current proof of registration). Expertise and experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, training and supervision. Experience of successful postgraduate supervision (at least at Master's level). Experience in service delivery within Haematological Pathology, or related and relevant fields. Proven management and leadership experience in academic or related environments. ·Proven independent research experience with publications and related research outputs. Understanding of the South African higher education environment.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RecommendationA doctorate or at an advanced stage of completing a doctorate (for appointment at Associate Professor level). Successful PhD supervision. Experience of interaction with service, teaching and/or professional bodies at national and international level. · Success in securing grants. Duties
Overall strategic leadership of the Division, giving expression to its vision of being a leader in promoting excellence in healthcare with reference to training, research and innovation in Haematological Pathology. · Fostering an inclusive and collegial environment that encourages a high level of performance, communication and teamwork. Operational, human resources and financial management of the Division, including cost centre management, facilities and resources management, as well as information managementRepresenting the Division within and external to the Faculty and the NHLS. Service delivery in support of Haematological Pathology within the NHLS. Contributing to the professional development of registrars through work-based assessments and participating in CMSA assessment processes. Monitoring the quality-of-service delivery, teaching and training, and research. Participating in and managing independent research within a project or team context.Performing and supervising research in priority areas, and contributing to identifying priority research areas aligned with national and global imperatives. · Contributing to the goals and functioning of the University and the NHLS. · Expanding and strengthening collaboration with health services, communities and other stakeholders. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
