The Community Schemes Ombud Service Act (Act 9 of 2011) was promulgated on 11 June 2011 and provides for the establishment of the Community Schemes Ombud Service (“CSOS”) as a public entity. The CSOS has been classified as a Schedule 3A Public Entity in terms of the Public Finance Management Act (Act No.1 of 1999) (PFMA)
Requirements
Paralegal Studies or Legal Secretarial Diploma Minimum of 3 years post qualification experience in either in a law firm or the legal division of a large corporate. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with senior legal staff and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. Ability to equilibrate priorities and organize work effectively to meet deadlines. Strong written and oral communication and analytical skills. Pays attention to detail. High level of accuracy and attention to details Exhibiting sound practical judgment. Strong interpersonal, diplomatic and negotiation skills Excellent numeracy and computer literacy with a strong command of Spreadsheets. Unquestionable moral and ethical integrity Knowledge: Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, transcription, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology. Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders and CSOS policies and rules. Demonstrated ability to conduct basic legal research Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Skills and Competencies: Excellent administrative/secretarial skills Basic knowledge of the law and legal procedures Computer literacy A high level of accuracy and attention to detail Discretion, for dealing with confidential information A good standard of spelling and grammar The ability to work to deadlines The ability to work well as part of a team and on your own A polite, helpful manner.
Duties
Developing and implementing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work through a proactive approach and maintain high legal service standards to ensure client and customer satisfaction. Performing Administrative/Secretarial Activities. Communicating with People Inside and Outside Organization Oversee and develop reports Maintenance to ensure efficient record storage for reference and auditing purposes. Co-ordinate the processing of invoices, orders and travel and accommodation arrangements in the Department and monitor/control the Departmental budget so that the expenditure is within the approved Budget.
