Duties
1. Maintenance of instrumentation & electrical distribution network from point of supply to point of use in building facilities, utilities production equipment and manufacturing facilities in subsidiaries when required. • Lead the maintenance management of critical infrastructure and assets across the Necsa Group, including electrical substations, electrical distribution networks, instrumentation and electronics systems, security fencing, CCTV systems, buildings, boilers, compressors, chillers, lifting equipment, mobile equipment, passenger lifts, and other production and utility assets. • Manage the Electrical Maintenance, Instrumentation & Electronics Services, and Civil Maintenance portfolios, ensuring safe, reliable, and cost-effective maintenance operations. • Develop, implement, and continuously improve Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM) and Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) programmes to maximise asset reliability, minimise downtime, and extend equipment life. • Plan, schedule, coordinate, and monitor preventive, predictive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance activities, ensuring timely completion of work and effective backlog management. • Improve equipment reliability by reducing downtime, increasing Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), conducting root cause analyses, and implementing sustainable maintenance improvement initiatives. • Optimise maintenance strategies, procedures, and work practices through continuous improvement initiatives, identifying skills gaps and recommending process and training enhancements. • Coordinate internal maintenance teams and external service providers to maximise planned shutdown opportunities while minimising unplanned equipment outages. • Ensure the maintenance, calibration, testing, and statutory compliance of electrical, instrumentation, electro-mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. • Ensure that buildings, plants, utilities, and associated infrastructure remain fit for purpose by providing proactive engineering support and maintenance solutions. • Manage maintenance materials, spare parts, and expenditure, ensuring effective cost control, inventory management, and accountability. • Maintain accurate maintenance records, asset information, and equipment data within the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to support planning, reporting, and decision-making. • Lead the acquisition, installation, commissioning, modification, and decommissioning of plant, machinery, and equipment, including preparing technical specifications, managing suppliers, and ensuring safe and compliant disposal of obsolete assets. • Develop, monitor, and report on departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ensuring maintenance objectives align with organisational performance targets. • Conduct risk assessments, implement mitigation measures, and ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and statutory requirements across all maintenance activities. • Manage contractors and service providers to ensure compliance with legal, contractual, quality, safety, and company requirements. • Prepare technical reports, management presentations, and performance analyses to support operational and strategic decision-making. • Monitor industry developments, emerging technologies, and changes affecting maintenance services, materials, and equipment, providing recommendations to enhance operational performance and asset management. 2. People management • Manage the team on technical best practice and establish standard policies and procedures whilst also mentoring and leading the department. • Manage the team to ensure machine availability, proactively managing dysfunctional machinery • Maintain the human capacity and competence in the Necsa Group to be able to provide sustainable maintenance support • Undertake continuous training and development • Provide technical expertise to the team • Identify and deploy the technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver on all maintenance projects, including the engagement of external resources as required • Manage, coach and develop a high performing maintenance team that meets agreed objectives and which delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements • Set department objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports • Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required • Consistently promote high standards through personal example and rollout through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviours expected of them • Ensure the delivery of the People Strategy within area of accountability • Manage and lead the team, ensuring adequate staffing levels • Motivate and coach the team to operational success • Monitor the completion of tasks and ensure good performance and record on appropriate systems • Review, implement and update company records e.g. training matrices, performance reviews, risk assessments • Communicate KPIs from the strategic annual plan so that each employee is aware 3. Strategy Development • Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice maintenance vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance • Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on Maintenance activities 5. Relationship Management • Work as part of the Management team to share ideas and improve operation, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities and process and procedure improvements to optimize results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards requirements delivery in line with Company and Customer requirements • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance • Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key stakeholders to facilitate delivery and compliance with the maintenance strategy • Communicate with stakeholders the impact of market change and potential effects on engineering design and development. • Recommend solutions without compromising quality or service while optimising cost • Liaise and communicate with other departments, customers, suppliers and other service providers • Ensure an effective interface with other departmental staff is maintained
