    Job Purpose

    The Manager: Quality Enhancement has the responsibility to:

    • develop and implement quality enhancement strategies and plans including processing, monitoring, analysis and reporting on data and information derived from quality assurance initiatives and research projects relating to the academic project at the University.
    • ensure monitoring, evaluation and impact measurement into the efficiency and effectiveness of the institutional quality management systems.
    • identify trends need and consolidate findings needed to be raised to the institutional level to identify systemic matters impacting of the quality of the academic project at the University.
    • develop and coordinate of a programme of activities to institutionalize a quality culture at CPUT.
    • in close liaison with the Director: Quality Management, develop innovative approaches to quality related systems, processes and standards to improve quality implementation and sustainability in relation to Higher Education Sub-Framework, Quality Assurance Framework and other regulatory frameworks and guidelines developed by the Council on Higher Education.
    • to support the Quality Management Directorate (QMD) in the implementation of national and institutional policies, procedures and systems and international best practices.
    • to improve internal and external stakeholder relations in line with the strategic and management needs of QMD.

    Requirements

    Master’s degree qualification. A minimum of 5 years working experience in the higher education quality management and assurance environment, experience in a public higher education environment would be advantageous. A minimum of three (3) years of the above-mentioned experience in a senior administrative position or middle management level Recommendation: Preference may be given to candidates with a Doctoral qualification or proof of registration for a Doctoral qualification. Competencies Knowledge of quality enhancement and quality promotion in higher education sector Knowledge of quality management processes and accreditation criteria and standards in higher education A strong knowledge base of national legislation and accreditation requirements is essential Applied and demonstrable knowledge of implementing a suitable system for data management, analysis and reporting Proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative data analysis using reputable data analysis software packages Proven management skills Management experience consisting of at least 3-5 years in a management position. Excellent organisational and planning skills, with the ability to work under pressure, pay attention to detail, prioritize time, work effectively, multi-task and meet deadlines. Strong research, statistical and analytical skills Knowledge of database management systems Excellent report writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English. Strong people skills, including being a highly motivated confident communicator with the ability to engage with people at all levels in the university and across a range of diverse cultural backgrounds. A high level of integrity commensurate with the philosophy of quality management in South African education.

    Duties

    Develop and implement quality enhancement strategies and plans. Develop and coordinate of a programme of activities to institutionalize a quality culture at CPUT. Manage, monitor, evaluate and report on all research activities and surveys required for quality management Collect, process, monitor, analyze and report on, data and information derived from quality assurance initiatives and research projects relating to the academic project at the University. Ensure suitable data management systems are in place to capture accurate and reliable information related to the quality management activities. Monitor, evaluate and measure impact into the efficiency and effectiveness of the institutional quality management systems. Identify trends need and consolidate findings needed to be raised to the institutional level to identify systemic matters impacting of the quality of the academic project at the University. Develop innovative approaches to quality related systems, processes and standards to improve quality implementation and sustainability in relation to Higher Education Sub-Framework, Quality Assurance Frameworkand other regulatory frameworks and guidelines developed by the Council on Higher Education. Provide support for the implementation of national and institutional policies, procedures and systems. Make recommendations for the refinement of policies, procedures & review instruments for Quality Management Improve internal and external stakeholder relations in line with the strategic and management needs of QMD.
