    CIVIL ENGINEER TK 14: 34011780

    Job Purpose:
    Applies professional principles and, controls technical procedures and processes to address the specific engineering requirements of internal/external clients through research and evaluation of best practices and cost effective approaches using defined methodology, provision of guidance and advice on the formulation of proposals and design concepts and, contract and project management involving complex forms of water engineering and Non-Revenue Water (NRW) work with high impact in order to ensure broader goals and service delivery objectives are accomplished and quality and professional standards maintained.

    Key Responsibility Areas:
    •Provides technical support to the Area/Works Project Engineer, to ensure that the services provided are technically correct, economically justifiable and in terms of prevailing standards and policies.
    •Responsible for the professional analysis of the various aspects associated with water    conveyance and storage, wastewater conveyance and disposal including sewer and  water reticulation, trunk pipelines, pumping stations, wastewater treatment works,  building and structures, to ensure that the design is appropriate, cost effective,  technically sound and in terms of prevailing standards and policy.
    •Interaction with the other Organizations and affected parties, in order to ensure that  all parties are advised of projects that affect them and that the interests of the  Municipality are catered for.
    •Professional supervision of contracts, to ensure that the Municipality receives value    for money, that there is contractual compliance and safe working procedures.
    •Responsible for preparation of draft routine reports correspondence and estimates for   submission to Area Engineer to ensure the efficient functioning of the Branch.
    •Responsible for checking of Developers submission, in order to ensure compliance    with the Departments design criteria and specifications for the provision of sewer and  water reticulation to proposed major developments.

    Job Purpose:
    Supports and participate in establishing and functional requirements and manages the professional and technical processes associated with provision of Water Engineering and Non-Revenue Water (NRW) service to internal/external clients through the alignment and adjustment of role boundaries and resources against short, medium and longer term plans and programmes.

    Key Responsibility Areas:
    •Actively seeks and provides technical support to the Area Project Manager, to ensure    that the services provided are technically correct, economically justifiable and in terms  of prevailing standards and policies.
    •Responsible for the professional analysis of the various aspects associated with water  conveyance and storage, wastewater conveyance and disposal including sewer and  water reticulation, trunk pipelines, pumping stations, wastewater treatment works,  building and structures, to ensure that the design is appropriate, cost effective,  technically sound and in terms of prevailing standards and policy.
    •Interaction with the other Organizations and affected parties, in order to ensure that  all parties are advised of projects that affect them and that the interests of the  Municipality are catered for.

    Requirements

    Essential Requirements:CIVIL ENGINEER TK 14: 34011780•Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering (NQF Level 8) in Civil    Engineering.•Registered as a Candidate Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa    (ECSA) within 3 months of employment.•Valid motor vehicle driving license•2 years relevant post qualification experience of which 1 year must be non-revenue    water experience.SENIOR CIVIL ENGINEER TK 15: 34011780B•Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering (NQF Level 8) in Civil    Engineering.•Registered as a Professional Civil Engineer with the Engineering Council of South    Africa (ECSA).•Valid motor vehicle driving license•3 years relevant post qualification experience of which 2 years must be non-revenue    water experience.CHIEF CIVIL ENGINEER TK 16: 34011780C•Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Bachelor of Engineering (NQF Level 8) in Civil    Engineering.•Registered as a Professional Civil Engineer with the Engineering Council of South    Africa (ECSA).•Valid motor vehicle driving license•5 years relevant post registration experience of which 3 years must be non-revenue    water experience.
