Branch: Integrated Regional Economic Development
Primary Function: To direct, lead, and manage the development of integrated regional economic plans that align spatial planning with economic intelligence to enhance the city’s economic competitiveness. This includes the identification, development, and implementation of optimized economic investment strategies for all regional corridors, wards, precincts, and spatially defined areas. To lead, direct, and manage initiatives for promoting, attracting, and stimulating trade and investment programs based on the City’s economic strategic direction and agenda.

Requirements
Matric Certificate plus a Bachelor’s Degree in Development Economics, Development Studies, Town/Urban and Regional Planning, or a related field at NQF level 7; Professional registration in Town and Regional Planning is a basic requirement; Minimum 10 years’ experience in regional economic development, spatial planning, or economic transformation, including 5 years in a senior leadership role. Expertise in the establishment and operationalisation of SEZs, industrial parks, and sector-specific economic clusters. Demonstrated ability to develop and package technical proposals, business cases, and implementation plans for complex economic development infrastructure projects. Experience in driving catalytic projects across multiple sectors and economic corridors. Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports will be a plus. Excellent working knowledge of public sector strategies and developmental imperatives. Minimum Code 8 Driver’s license.
