Requirements
Basic R425 qualification (i.e. Diploma/Degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows registration with South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse. Proof of current registration with the SANC as a professional Nurse. A minimum of 8 years appropriate/ recognizable experience in Nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing. Post basic qualification with a duration of at least 1 year Diploma in Clinical Nursing Science Health Assessment, Treatment and Care (R48) accredited with SANC. At least 3 years of period referred to above must be appropriate/ recognizable at management level. Must be computer literate and have a Diploma/Degree in Health Services Management. Demonstrate a basic understanding of HR and financial policies and practices. Demonstrate a basic understanding of the legislative framework governing the public service. Ability to direct a multi-disciplinary team and to ensure good nursing care at area/facility level. Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices and how these impact on service delivery. Knowledge of nursing care process and procedures, nursing statuses and other relevant legal frameworks such as: Nursing Act, Health Act, Occupational and Health and Safety Act. Communication as a skill is highly expected. Must have Matric and Valid Driver’s License.
Duties
Ensure that the clinical nursing practice by the nursing team (area/facility) is rendered in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards as determined by the relevant health facility. Promote quality of nursing care is directed by the professional scope of practice and standards as determined by the relevant health facility. Demonstrate effective communication with operational managers, other health professionals and support services personnel and junior colleagues, including more complex report writing when required. Work effectively and amicably, at management level, with people of diverse intellectual, cultural, racial or religious differences. Manager labour related issues within the sub-district. Able to manage own work and that of facility reporting to post and to ensure appropriate interventions to enhance nursing service at area/facility level. Able to develop and maintain a nursing service environment that promotes the right of patients, advocating and facilitating proper treatment and care and ensuring that principles of Batho Pele are adhered to. Able to develop contact, build and maintain a network of professional relations in order. Delegate, Supervise and co-ordinate the provision of effective and efficient patient care through adequate nursing care. Supervise and monitor staff performance in accordance with Performance Management Development System (PMDS). Oversee and sign off quality data submission by facilities to improve the poor indicators. Develop/ establish and maintain constructive working relationships with nursing and other stakeholders (i.e. inter-professional, inter-sectoral and multi-disciplinary teamwork) Manage, Monitor and ensure proper utilization of human, financial and physical resources. Participate in the data analysis, formation and Implementation of nursing guidelines, practices, standards and procedures. Participate in the nursing management team. Expected to recommend advice, give information in the form of report, letter and memos. General and strategic advice, nursing and management support. Maintain professional growth / ethical standards and self- development: SANC, nurses Day involvement, promoting the image of both nursing and District health services. Ensure compliance with the Ideal clinic Framework as well as prescripts of the Office of the Health Standards Compliance (OHSC), Batho Pele principles, and patient rights and Infection Prevention and Control. Contribute to and monitor the managing of complaints, patient safety incidents and experience of care.
