    Requirements

    Minimum educational qualification: Qualification that allows registration with South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nursing Assistant. Registration with a Professional Council: Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Nursing Assistant. Experience: Grade 1: None. Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years’ appropriate/recognisable experience after registration with the SANC as Nursing Assistant. Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years’ appropriate/ recognisable experience after registration with the SANC as Nursing Assistant. Inherent requirements of the job: Must be prepared to work shifts, weekends, public holidays and night duty as well as overtime when necessary. Ability to work under pressure. Willingness to rotate between Wards according to Operational needs. Competencies (knowledge/skills): Ability to function / make decisions independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Good communication and interpersonal relationships. Knowledge of relevant nursing legislation, policies and protocols of the Department of Health, Western Cape. Ability to accept accountability and responsibility.

    Assist patients with activities of daily living (physical care). Provide elementary clinical nursing care. Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self- development. Effective functioning within multi-disciplinary team. Effective utilisation of resources.
