    Requirements

    Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner. Registration with a professional council: Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner. Experience: Grade 1: None after registration as Medical Practitioner with the HPCSA in respect of SA qualified employees. 1-year relevant experience after registration as Medical Practitioner with a recognised foreign Health Professional Council in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service as required in South Africa. Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years’ appropriate experience as Medical Practitioner after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner in respect of SA qualified employees. A minimum of 6 years’ relevant experience after registration as Medical Practitioner with a recognised foreign Health Professional Council in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service as required in South Africa. Grade 3: A minimum of 10 years’ appropriate experience as a Medical Practitioner after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner in respect of SA qualified employees. A minimum of 11 years’ relevant experience after registration as Medical Practitioner with a recognised foreign Health Professional Council in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service as required in South Africa. Inherent requirements of the job: Commuted overtime is compulsory. Participate in the after-hours call system. Competencies (knowledge/skills): Proven experience in principles of planning, organizing and implementation. Proven knowledge of Public health policies, guidelines and related prescript to manage resources effectively. Competent and willing to work across disciplines if required. Appropriate experience in Psychiatry. Excellent clinical assessment and management procedures. Excellent clinical skills in terms of consultation. Good communication skills.

    Duties

    Uphold the reputation and integrity of the medical profession. Adhere to requirements for all HR matters and Code of Conduct. Complete and submit required medical reports and documentation for legal and administrative purposes. Complete the required CPD activities to maintain registration with the HPCSA. Ensure an efficient and cost-effective clinical service of high quality with a patient centered focus. Ensure compliance by means of maintaining high quality clinical records. Financial management by effective and efficient use of resources. Participate in training and educational programs for healthcare professionals. Prescribe and manage treatment plans, including medication and therapies. Provide comprehensive medical care to patients by diagnosing and treating illnesses, injuries, and other health conditions. Refer patients to specialists or other healthcare providers when necessary.
