Requirements
Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner. Registration with a Professional Council: Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner. Experience: A minimum of 3 years appropriate experience as a Medical Officer after registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner. Inherent requirements of the job: Valid (Code B/EB) driver's license. Competencies (knowledge/skills): Capacity to function within senior clinical management & executive management teams. Capacity to internalize and implement shared organizational values & commitments. Strong leadership skills, strategy, quality management, problem solving, decision-making, operational and contingency planning, flow management, lean operations methodologies, general management, organisational, interpersonal, negotiation, facilitation, presentation and public speaking skills. Competency in management and leadership. Competency in project management, public sector financial management, including budgeting, expenditure control, revenue generation, procurement management, asset and risk management. Competency in public sector human resource management and development, including appropriate staffing levels, skills mix, skills development, discipline and employee relations. Competency in information usage/management to support decision-making, including managing appropriate indicators, target setting, and monitoring and evaluation. Knowledge and skills in dealing with relevant medicolegal matters. Competence to acquire new skills as required. Embodying the values of the Department of Health and Wellness.
Duties
Management of relevant general specialist and highly specialised clinical services. Effective and efficient financial management of relevant general specialist and highly specialised clinical services. Ensuring quality patient- centred service delivery via leadership of relevant clinical FBUs (Functional Business Units). Effective and efficient human resource management within relevant general specialist and highly specialised clinical services. Clinical and special/transversal portfolios and projects, as required.
