This position is for an Administration Clerk, with two posts available, based at the Technology Management Services unit in Durban. The role forms part of a broader government department's support structure, where administrative efficiency is essential to the smooth running of the station. As an Administration Clerk, the incumbent will be expected to provide a wide range of administrative support services, ensuring that the unit's human, financial and physical resources are properly managed and accounted for. The work is varied and requires a person who can work independently, prioritise tasks, and maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.

To be considered, applicants must be South African citizens and must be able to furnish documentary proof of citizenship on the day of the interview. A Grade 12 / Senior Certificate / NCV Level 4 qualification, or an equivalent qualification at NQF level 4 recognised by SAQA, is required. While not mandatory, relevant courses in the administrative or clerical field will be an added advantage. Candidates must be proficient in at least English and one other official language, both in reading and writing, and must be able to demonstrate competency in the core functions of the post. The ideal candidate will have general computer literacy, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Office, MS PowerPoint and MS Outlook, as well as sound planning, organising, administrative and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal skills, good verbal and written communication, and a customer-focused, responsive attitude are also important. The ability to act independently, professionally, accountably and with credibility is essential, as is a willingness to work under pressure and to work extended hours when required.

The main duties of the post include rendering general administrative duties as well as specific administrative tasks within the unit. The Administration Clerk will be responsible for maintaining and administering the human resources of the section, which may involve processing leave forms, maintaining personnel records, and assisting with staff administration. The role also includes maintaining the financial resources of the section, such as handling petty cash, processing invoices, and ensuring financial records are kept up to date. In addition, the incumbent will maintain and control the physical resources of the unit, including office equipment, furniture, and consumables, and will maintain and coordinate the administrative services of the station. This means ensuring that administrative systems run smoothly, that correspondence and filing are properly managed, and that the unit's day-to-day operational needs are met.

This is an OSD-graded position at level 05, and the successful candidates will be expected to start as soon as possible. The post is advertised through the Public Service Vacancy Circular, and interested applicants should ensure they meet all the requirements before applying.
