Tshwane North TVET College, based at its Soshanguve North campus, is inviting applications for a permanent Driver position. This is a support-level role within the college’s operations, responsible for the safe and timely transport of passengers and the delivery of mail, documents and other goods. The post is graded at Level 04, making it an entry-level opportunity for individuals with a solid driving background who are also willing to take on clerical and messenger duties within the office environment. As a permanent appointment, the successful candidate will become part of the college’s broader administrative and logistics team, contributing to the smooth daily functioning of the institution.
To be eligible for this role, applicants must hold at least a Grade 10 or Standard 8 qualification, together with a valid Code 10 driver’s licence and a Professional Driving Permit (PDP). A minimum of one to two years of relevant driving experience is required, along with practical knowledge of light and medium motor vehicles and the safe handling of goods. The college is looking for an innovative, result-orientated and self-driven individual who understands the importance of road safety, vehicle care and punctuality. Experience in a similar driving or messenger environment will be an advantage, as the role demands both driving competence and administrative reliability.
The core duties of the position involve driving light and medium motor vehicles to transport passengers and deliver items such as mail and documents. The driver will also be responsible for performing routine maintenance on the allocated vehicle, reporting any defects timeously, and completing all prescribed records and logbooks relating to vehicle usage and goods handled. In addition to driving, the role includes rendering clerical support and messenger services in the relevant office. This entails assisting in the registry, copying and faxing documents, and collecting and delivering documentation and related items within the department. The combination of driving and administrative tasks requires someone who is organised, trustworthy and able to manage multiple responsibilities without close supervision.
Tshwane North TVET College is committed to employment equity and, accordingly, applications are particularly encouraged from African male, African female, Coloured male, Coloured female, White male, Indian male and White female candidates. People with disabilities are also strongly encouraged to apply. As part of the selection process, shortlisted candidates will be subjected to a vetting process, which includes criminal record, citizenship, credit record and qualification checks. In addition, all shortlisted candidates will be required to complete two pre-entry assessments: a practical exercise to determine technical and generic suitability for the post, and an integrity or ethical conduct assessment. These assessments will be scored as an additional criterion during the interview process. Applicants must submit a fully completed new Z83 form along with a comprehensive CV; certified copies of qualifications, driver’s licence and identity documents will only be required from shortlisted candidates. Correspondence will be limited to shortlisted candidates, and if no feedback is received within three months of the closing date, applicants should consider their applications unsuccessful. Late applications will not be accepted, and candidates must quote the relevant post reference number when applying. The college reserves the right not to make an appointment, and all costs incurred for applications and interviews are the responsibility of the applicant.
