This permanent position of Assistant Director for Facilities Management and Records Management is based at the Central Office of Goldfields TVET College in the Free State province, and forms part of the college's broader operational management structure. The role is graded at an OSD level and carries the responsibility of overseeing the physical infrastructure, safety compliance, fleet operations, security, and records management functions across the institution. It is a supervisory and strategic post that requires the incumbent to coordinate multiple support services to ensure that the college's buildings, vehicles, and documentation systems operate efficiently and in line with legislative requirements.

Candidates must hold a Senior Certificate or Grade 12, or an NCV Level 4 qualification, together with a recognised three-year National Diploma at NQF Level 6 or a Bachelor's degree at NQF Level 7 in Building Management, Safety Management, Construction Management, or Property Management. In addition, applicants need between three and five years of experience in properties or facilities management, within a SHERQ and Occupational Health and Safety environment, of which at least three years must have been at a supervisory level. A valid driver's licence is essential, as is a working knowledge of the Public Service Act and Regulations, the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993, the Immovable Asset Management System, the Telephone Management System, the Fire Control System, and the Facilities Management System. Strong financial management, report writing, problem solving, project management, leadership, and communication skills are also required, along with computer literacy and the ability to perform under pressure.

The duties attached to this post are wide-ranging. The successful candidate will be responsible for compiling and monitoring a maintenance plan for buildings, machinery, tools, and equipment, ensuring the provision of office accommodation and parking, optimising space utilisation, and identifying potential risk hazards. They will also ensure proper signage, cleaning services, and compliance with SHERQ and OHS policies, including conducting safety audits, developing emergency evacuation plans, establishing an active OHS committee, appointing and training safety representatives and first aiders, and coordinating the reporting of injuries on duty. Fleet management forms another key area, covering policy development, vehicle cleanliness and maintenance, official usage control, warranty and insurance management, licensing, log book monitoring, and accident procedures. The role further includes physical security functions such as key control, access control, electronic surveillance, preliminary theft investigations, security training, and adherence to contractor service level agreements. Finally, the incumbent will manage records, as well as the human, financial, and other resources of the unit.

Preference will be given to candidates from designated groups, particularly with regard to race, gender, and disability, in line with the college's status as an equal opportunity employer. Shortlisted applicants will undergo a vetting process covering criminal records, citizenship, credit checks, and verification of qualifications and employment history, and will also be required to complete two pre-entry assessments, one practical and one integrity-based. Applications must be submitted using the prescribed Z83 form accompanied by a comprehensive CV with three contactable referees, and candidates should note that all costs incurred during the application and interview process are for their own account.
