This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the smooth functioning of public healthcare through the meticulous management of physical assets at Wesfleur Hospital. Based within the Chief Directorate: Metro Health Services, the Administration Clerk will focus specifically on supply chain management with a dedicated emphasis on asset management. The role sits within the broader Western Cape Government health structure, ensuring that hospital equipment, furniture, and other resources are correctly recorded, maintained, and accounted for in line with public sector regulations. This is a hands-on administrative post that requires both financial awareness and operational discipline within a hospital environment.

Applicants should hold a Senior Certificate or equivalent, with Mathematics and/or Accountancy passed as a subject, or alternatively possess a Senior Certificate combined with relevant experience and competencies that align directly with the key performance areas of the post. Practical experience in supply chain management, particularly asset management, within a hospital setting is essential. The ideal candidate will be computer literate and numerically strong, with sound interpersonal and communication abilities. The role demands a person who is accountable, takes responsibility, and can work independently without direct supervision. Knowledge of the Public Financial Management Act (PFMA) and the Accounting Officer’s System (AOS) is required, alongside familiarity with the LOGIS and EPS systems used within the public health supply chain environment.

The core duties are centred on the full asset management lifecycle. This includes maintaining and updating the hospital’s asset register, ensuring that all acquisitions are correctly captured and managed, and conducting regular asset verification exercises. The clerk will also be responsible for reporting on asset status and managing loss control procedures, as well as overseeing disposal management when assets reach the end of their useful life. In addition, the post involves providing administrative, warehousing, and financial support to the supply chain unit, helping to ensure that stock and assets are handled efficiently and in compliance with applicable policies.

This is a government post subject to a specific remuneration package, and the successful candidate may be required to undergo a competency test as part of the selection process. Importantly, no payment of any kind is required when applying for this vacancy, and all legitimate applications are processed through the official Western Cape Government health jobs portal. Candidates interested in this role should note that the position is based at Wesfleur Hospital and forms part of a circular advertisement for the health department. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced supply chain professional looking to apply their asset management skills within a public hospital setting, where accuracy, compliance, and accountability are essential.
