The Department of Health in Limpopo is advertising two Assistant Director: Corporate posts, one based at Musina Hospital and one at Mecklenburg Hospital. These are supervisory-level positions within the corporate services environment of a public health facility, meaning the successful candidates will be responsible for ensuring that the non-clinical support functions of the hospital operate smoothly, efficiently, and in line with government regulations. The role is broad and requires a person who can think strategically, manage people and resources, and coordinate multiple administrative functions simultaneously.

To be considered, applicants need a National Senior Certificate or Grade 12, together with an appropriate qualification at NQF level 6, recognised by SAQA. They must also have at least three years of experience at a supervisory level within Corporate Services. Practical computer literacy is essential, including MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as familiarity with virtual meeting platforms. A valid driver’s licence is required, although an exemption is made for people with disabilities. Beyond these formal requirements, the department is looking for candidates with sound knowledge of public service prescripts and an understanding of the legislative framework governing the Public Service. Strong skills in strategic alignment, leadership, planning, programme and project coordination, governance, compliance, financial management, change management, people management, problem solving, communication, stakeholder management, conflict resolution, diversity management, and report writing are all central to the role. Personal attributes such as integrity, accountability, professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are equally important. The ideal candidate should be a supportive leader, a team player, respectful and diplomatic, and committed to continuous learning and Batho Pele principles.

The main duties include developing and ensuring the implementation of policies, guidelines and procedures; managing human resource services and human resource development; facilitating and coordinating operational services; and managing security services, records management, and both physical and human resources. This means the post holder will be involved in everything from staff administration and training to the day-to-day running of support services at the hospital. They must ensure compliance with relevant frameworks, promote good governance, and maintain a professional and ethical working environment.

Candidates should note that this is a government post with specific conditions attached. Applications must be submitted through the official process, and failure to comply with the instructions will result in disqualification. The new Z83 application form must be fully and correctly completed, and a comprehensive CV must be attached. Applicants with foreign qualifications are responsible for having these evaluated by SAQA. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews and will be required to submit certified copies of qualifications, identity documents, and any relevant registration. They may also be required to undertake a practical exercise and an integrity assessment as part of the selection process. This is a demanding but rewarding opportunity for a corporate services professional who wishes to contribute to public health administration in a hospital setting.
