The Limpopo Department of Health is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced candidate to fill the role of Deputy Director: Supply Chain Management at Pietersburg Hospital. This is a senior management position at Level 11, carrying an all-inclusive remuneration package, and is responsible for ensuring that the hospital’s supply chain operations are lawful, efficient, and fully aligned with public finance regulations. Based at the hospital, the incumbent will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight across the full spectrum of supply chain functions, including demand and acquisition management, asset and inventory control, contract administration, and the management of various committees. The role sits within the broader provincial health infrastructure, and the successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff to ensure that procurement and logistical activities support the delivery of quality healthcare services.

Applicants must have a National Senior Certificate or Matric, together with an NQF Level 6 qualification in Supply Chain Management, Financial Management, Logistics, Cost and Accounting Management, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the South African Qualifications Authority. At least five years of relevant experience in Demand and Acquisition Management is required, with three of those years at junior management or Assistant Director level. Computer literacy is essential, including proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and virtual meeting platforms. A valid driver’s licence is required, except for applicants with disabilities. The department expects candidates to have a hands-on understanding of tenders, acquisition administration, asset management, and contract management. Knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act, Treasury Regulations, the Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act, the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment Act, and other related supply chain legislation is critical. Strong leadership, communication, presentation, budgeting, and legal knowledge in supply chain management are also required.

The core duties of this post include managing the SCM bid, disposal, and contract negotiation committees, as well as overseeing commitments. The Deputy Director will monitor compliance with all supply chain legislation, policies, and procedures, and will take responsibility for asset and inventory management and contract administration. The role requires the preparation and submission of monthly and quarterly reports, the management of staff, and the implementation and monitoring of audit action plans to address findings and improve internal controls. The post demands a proactive, detail-oriented professional who can uphold transparency and accountability in all procurement activities.

Interested applicants should note the strict application conditions. A fully completed new Z83 form and a comprehensive CV must be submitted online, with the CV uploaded as a PDF attachment. Foreign qualifications must be evaluated by SAQA, and shortlisted candidates will be required to produce certified copies of qualifications, identity documents, and any relevant registration at the time of the interview. All shortlisted candidates will undergo pre-entry assessments, including a practical exercise and an integrity assessment, and those shortlisted for SMS posts may also be subjected to psychometric testing. The department will disqualify applications that do not meet the requirements or fail to comply with the application instructions, so candidates are urged to read the full conditions before applying.
