This position is for an Administration Clerk Supervisor based at the Pretoria ICTU, within a government law enforcement environment. The role is a supervisory support post focused on ensuring that the unit’s administrative, logistical and compliance functions run effectively. It is an OSD-graded position that demands a mature, independent and accountable individual who can manage multiple operational responsibilities, often without direct supervision, while maintaining professional credibility and sound judgement.

Applicants need a Grade 12 / Senior Certificate / NCV Level 4 qualification, or an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification recognised by SAQA. At least four years of relevant experience in the field is required, and an applicable three-year diploma or degree at NQF Level 6 or higher, together with relevant training courses, will be a strong advantage. A valid light motor vehicle driver’s licence is also advantageous. Candidates must be South African citizens and will need to provide documentary proof of this at the interview stage. Proficiency in English and at least one other official language is essential. The department looks for people with knowledge of public service prescripts, good verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and solid computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, Office, PowerPoint and Outlook. Report writing, presentation skills, problem-solving and sound planning are also important competencies for this role.

The core duties are broad and revolve around the full administrative and logistical support function of the unit. The successful candidate will maintain all supply chain management functions, manage the vehicle fleet, and oversee the maintenance and safekeeping of firearms. They will also manage acquisition and procurement processes, take responsibility for immovable and movable government property, and maintain health and safety requirements within the unit. This means the supervisor must be organised, reliable and able to coordinate resources, equipment and compliance matters in line with public service regulations.

There are several important conditions attached to this vacancy. Applications must be submitted on the new Z83 form with a comprehensive CV; only shortlisted candidates will be asked to provide certified copies of qualifications. Foreign qualifications must be accompanied by a SAQA evaluation certificate. Shortlisted candidates will undergo a practical exercise and an integrity assessment, and suitable candidates will be subject to personnel suitability checks, including vetting, criminal record, citizenship, credit record, qualification and employment verification. The department encourages youth, people with disabilities, and candidates from designated groups, including coloured, Indian and white applicants, to apply; a confirmation of disability from a registered medical practitioner must be attached. Late, incomplete or wrongly submitted applications will not be considered, and if no response is received within three months of the closing date, applicants should accept that their application was unsuccessful. The department also reserves the right not to fill the post.
