This vacancy is for a Clerk Stores: Warehouse position, with two posts available at the Kroonstad Training College, operating within the Department of Correctional Services. The role is a typical entry-level logistics and supply chain support function within a government training environment. The successful incumbents will be responsible for the physical and administrative management of stock and assets at the college, ensuring that all goods received, stored, and issued are handled in strict accordance with the department’s logistical policies and relevant public service financial regulations. As a Public Service Act appointment, the position carries the usual obligations and conditions associated with a career in the public sector, and it offers an opportunity for individuals who are starting out in the field of supply chain management to gain practical experience in a structured institutional setting.

Candidates must hold a Grade 12 certificate or an equivalent qualification. No prior work experience is required, making this an accessible opportunity for entry-level applicants. However, any knowledge of the LOGIS system, LAP, or prior exposure to a comparable stores or warehouse environment will be considered a distinct advantage. Computer literacy is essential, as the role involves working with digital systems and generating reports. In addition, the ideal candidate should possess a sound understanding of the relevant prescripts governing logistics, including the Supply Chain Manuals for Procurement, LAPPM Chapters 1 to 10, and the broader financial management framework. This includes familiarity with Section 38 of the Public Finance Management Act, Treasury Regulations, Asset Management Guidelines, Public Service Regulations, and HRM policies and procedures. These requirements reflect the need for the clerk to operate with integrity and accountability when handling state resources.

The core duties of the position revolve around the administration of all goods and stock received at the training college. This includes verifying deliveries, recording receipts, and ensuring that all items are processed in line with logistical policies. The clerk will also administer the transit and allocation of stock, meaning they will coordinate the movement of goods within the warehouse and distribute items to the appropriate departments or individuals as needed. General office administration support is another key responsibility, which may involve maintaining records, handling correspondence, and supporting the broader administrative functions of the unit. Furthermore, the role includes the management of assets, which requires the clerk to keep accurate registers, conduct asset verification, and ensure that all movable assets are properly tagged, tracked, and accounted for in line with the department’s asset management guidelines.

Beyond the technical and administrative skills, the successful candidate must demonstrate strong report writing, presentation, training, and problem-solving abilities. They will also be expected to liaise internally and externally, which calls for good communication and interpersonal skills. The position is based at Kroonstad Training College, and interested applicants must submit their applications online through the official careers portal, as no other forms of submission will be accepted. This is a structured government vacancy with a clear focus on maintaining sound logistics and asset management practices within a correctional services training environment.
